Carrie (2013)

I became the lead producer for the Carrie digital campaign only a month or so before the movie release. I assisted with all site updates and necessary emails, but my favorite part of the title were the social media features we created with the assistance of Addison Interactive.

Flex Like Carrie

Flex Like Carrie was a stand alone site that was created to help create buzz for the release of the film. Fans were tasked with “flexing like carrie”, aka showing their telekinetic powers through the use of a Vine or Instagram video. 

 

The site would pull in videos that contained a caption with the hashtag #flexlikecarrie. We had to build a back end admin tool that would pull in all the videos with the hastag, but the website would only display those videos which were approved by client. 

 

Since we were using Vine and Instagram we incorporated a small logo in the corner of each video that would show where the video originated.

Find Carrie

Working with Addison we created a really fun flash site feature that took advantage of Facebook Connect. When the site loads you are asked to connect to Facebook using Facebook Connect. Then a video begins which has entities throughout which are specific to that individual Facebook user. For example one of your Facebook friends may seem like they are text messaging you as you explore Carrie’s house. When you arrive in her bedroom you see a map with your name on it and a yearbook with you and your friends’ profile images. 

 

At the end of the video you are confronted by Carrie in the closet and she whispers your name. We recorded the actress saying over 1000 different names and made sure to label each name for various spellings. Once the video finishes you can download a jpg of the yearbook image, an animated gif of Carrie in the closet, or my favorite part of the project - a downloaded ringtone for your phone.
